Eliminuje požiadavku uspokojovania potrieb od najnižších po najvyššie. Alderferova teória sa zaoberá ľudskými potrebami a ich dôležitosťou, no oproti Maslowovej je voľnejšia a zohľadňuje rozdiely medzi ľuďmi.
